When a Court of Protection Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (COPDoLS) is authorised and the person being deprived of their freedom in their own home has no family or friends who can be a protection for them, then the local authority requests a 1.2 Representative.
The 1.2 Representative is there to help ensure that person’s rights and views are heard and respected, their needs are being met and the authorisation is appropriate.
